Head of Retention
Listed 5 weeks ago
Head of Retention. Remote. $4,000 - $8,000 per month, based on experience and skill set.
Our client is a direct-to-consumer pet care brand selling premium supplements, treats and grooming products for dogs and cats across the US and UK, at around $8m a month. Its customers are 30-55-year-old dog and cat owners who treat their pets as family: health-conscious, subscription-friendly, and quick to churn if support is slow.
What you will do
- Own retention rate and customer lifetime value across the subscriber lifecycle.
- Build retention initiatives across lifecycle marketing, cancellation flows and customer support.
- Find real churn drivers in cohort, lifecycle and behavioural data, not assumptions.
- Optimise cancellation experiences and save offers while protecting profitability.
- Grow retained customer value through upsells, cross-sells and expansion offers.
- Own retention reporting, diagnosis, forecasting and recommendations to the executive team.
Who you are
- Experienced in retention, CRM, lifecycle marketing, subscription growth or customer success strategy.
- Comfortable reading retention, churn, cohort and LTV data and acting on it.
- Proven at leading cross-functional work across Marketing and Customer Service.
- Able to point to measurable gains in retention or recurring revenue.
- Decisive without hand-holding, and clear about what matters most this week.
What you get
- $4,000 - $8,000 per month, set by your experience and skill set.
- Full ownership of the subscriber experience from first rebill to renewal and expansion.
- Remote work with a lean team that moves on data, not opinion.
- Direct influence on revenue at a brand already doing around $8m a month.

Questions people ask
Why is the company not named?
This is a confidential search. You learn the brand name at the first call; everything else about the business is on this page.
Is this a strategy role or a hands-on role?
Both. You set the retention plan and you execute it with the Marketing and Customer Service teams.
Do I need pet care experience?
No. Subscription DTC retention experience matters more than the category.
Who is this not for?
Anyone who needs a fixed playbook, avoids data, or wants to hand churn work to someone else.
If you can turn churn data into retained revenue, this role is yours to own.
