Head of Operations
Listed 5 weeks ago
Head of Operations for a premium DTC pet care brand selling supplements, treats and grooming to dog and cat owners in the US and UK.
Our client does around $8m a month selling premium supplements, treats and grooming products direct to consumers, with a subscription base that churns fast when support is slow. This role owns the systems, processes and coordination that let that scale keep growing without operational breakdown.
What you will do
- Keep day-to-day operations running smoothly across every department.
- Own operational visibility: KPIs, milestones, action items and priorities, tracked and executed.
- Run accountability systems so managers and teams work on the right objectives.
- Find bottlenecks, broken workflows and unnecessary complexity, then fix the root cause.
- Build and simplify systems, SOPs and automation so execution scales without you.
- Handle operational decisions yourself and escalate to the CEO only in a decision-ready format.
Who you are
- A systems-first thinker who sees how the parts of a business connect.
- High clarity bias: you push for clear ownership, priorities and expectations.
- Structured in decisions: you frame the problem and compare options before choosing.
- Calm under pressure, sequencing work instead of reacting to urgency.
- You treat operational failures as system failures, not people failures.
- You have a high intolerance for chaos and are never satisfied with 'working fine'.
What you get
- Competitive compensation plus performance bonus, discussed openly in the first call.
- Real authority: independent spend approval below $1,000 and hiring authority for team-layer roles.
- Direct line to the CEO, with the mandate to reduce what reaches them.
- A profitable, fast-moving DTC brand at $8m a month in the US and UK.
- High ownership, low micromanagement: you design the operating system, not just monitor it.

Questions people ask
Why is the company not named?
This is a confidential search. You will learn the brand, the numbers and the team structure on the first call.
Is this a people-management role or a systems role?
Both, weighted to systems. You coordinate departments and managers, but your output is measured in structure, clarity and execution that holds without you.
How much freedom do I actually have?
You approve spend under $1,000 and hire for team-layer roles independently. Anything bigger goes to the CEO with a problem definition, data, options and your recommendation.
Do I need pet care experience?
No. Operational depth in DTC e-commerce at scale, including subscription and customer support realities, matters more than the category.
If operational chaos bothers you more than it bothers most people, this is your role.
